What courses can international students study?

International students can only study on summer school or short-term study programmes. We do not offer full-time or accredited programmes for international students.

We offer a full range of support including wellbeing services, academic support, study skills, pastoral care, careers advice and help settling into life in Wales.

Yes. For our summer school and short-term study programmes accommodation will be with a local family.

You will be provided with an induction programme, a campus tour, help understanding your timetable and guidance with practical needs.

Yes. As part of our summer schools and short-term study programmes, international students are encouraged to join college clubs, events, sports and enrichment activities to make friends and feel part of the college community.

Pembrokeshire College is based in Haverfordwest in west Wales, a safe friendly coastal part of the UK with easy access to beaches, countryside and local amenities.

The College is committed to operating a fair and transparent admissions process, which considers all programme enquiries or applications consistently. The principles and processes of this International Admissions Policy will apply to all international applications and enquiries.

Support and Services

The College main campus is made up of six zones. These are:

  • The Main Campus – the heart of the College, where you will find most academic and support staff, the refectory, restaurants and coffee shop.
  • CAMPUS6 – this area has science laboratories, modern classrooms, a 590m2 sports hall, a cardio fitness suite and ultra-modern hair and beauty salons as well as a coffee shop. 
  • Innovation Centre – this is a state-of-the-art facility for design, engineering, media, photography, construction and music. Specialist resources combined with highly skilled staff provide a wide range of further and higher education in subjects that will be crucial for the development of a competitive high-skill economy.
  • Construction Centre – the Construction Centre has created an excellent training environment for school leavers, trades people and professionals wanting to improve their skills and qualifications. With modern equipment, large workshops and experienced lecturers, the College is the well placed for those looking to learn a trade.
  • Energy Centre – the purpose built Energy Centre provides gas, oil and water training, accredited assessment and live renewables installation and servicing facilities. 
  • Engineering Building – this centre of excellence houses our specialist welding and fabrication workshops.

All students receive additional guidance, support and help from our team of experienced international office staff alongside induction activities that are designed to help settle you into college life.

As an international learners you will also receive:

  • 24 hour emergency helpline
  • Welfare and accommodation support
  • Full access to our extensive study spaces
  • Access to the College counsellor, nurse and interdenominational chaplain as well as student and pastoral coaches who are on-hand should you have any queries

Safeguarding

The College takes the safeguarding of all its students seriously and has a Designated Senior Lead for Safeguarding and Wellbeing.

All reports of abuse will be investigated in accordance with the College’s Safeguarding Policy. Should you have any reason to report an incident, please contact your tutor, international officer or any member of staff who will report it. Alternatively, contact one of the safeguarding officers who can be found in the Hwb.

College services

The following services are available to all students and to the local community.

  • Study Centre – provides students with a large library collection and delivers access to e-books, e-journals and other online learning resources. 
  • Hair and Beauty Salons – our industry standard salons offer a range of services for students, staff and members of the public to keep them looking and feeling good at heavily discounted prices. Treatments are carried out by students either learning or updating their hairdressing, beauty therapy or complementary therapy skills, under the close supervision of professionally qualified lecturers.
  • Restaurant – the Restaurant and Coffee Shop are run by catering and hospitality students and are open during term-time to staff, students and the general public. Serving an assorted menu of reasonably priced, quality food and with themed events offered throughout the year.
  • Fitness Suite – The modern sports facilities at Pembrokeshire College are open to staff, students and members of the public.
  • Starbucks – the College is home to the first Starbucks in Pembrokeshire serving a delicious range of hot and cold drinks as well as light snacks.

Where are we?

Pembrokeshire College is situated in an area of outstanding beauty and has one of the lowest crime rates in the UK. This protected location is famous for its castles, coastline and generous hospitality. We are four hours from Heathrow airport, three hours from Bristol Airport and two hours from the capital city of Cardiff.

There is plenty to see and do in Pembrokeshire especially if outdoor activities are one of your passions. From kayaking to mountain climbing there are numerous ways to release some energy after College or at the weekend. 

The sublime beauty of Pembrokeshire has attracted many writers, musicians and artists to its shores, even film crews. The last few years Pembrokeshire has been a popular location for Hollywood blockbusters, including; Harry Potter ‘Deathly Hallows’, Snow White and the Huntsmen starring Charlize Theron and Robin Hood starring Russell Crowe.
