Distance Training Courses

We have a variety of distance/online training courses available, many at discounted rates.

The Danny Fellows Trust

The Danny Fellows Training Trust loan fund aims to enlarge the pool of appropriately skilled labour available to local businesses in the Energy, Engineering and Construction sectors

This will be achieved by providing loans to individuals living in Pembrokeshire to gain additional skills and industry recognised qualifications that fall outside established funding mechanisms.

A panel including local business people from  relevant companies will decide each loan application.  The loan awarded will be paid direct to the course provider. Over time the Fund will grow both from ongoing contributions and repayment of loans and become self-sustaining.

“We have proof that Pembrokeshire College has the best Chevron operators’ apprenticeship scheme in the world,”

Ed Tomp, Chevron Operations Manager (2009)

“Valero Pembroke Refinery work in partnership with Pembrokeshire College to deliver successful modern apprenticeship programmes that support the needs of our Operations and Maintenance departments. Year on year we seek to improve our programmes through our continuous improvement processes and Pembrokeshire College are responsive to our change requirements, actively participating in improvement initiatives and developing the classroom based programme elements. The partnership has produced a programme that has won a national modern apprenticeship award and has seen programme participants winning medals in the Worldskills Environmental Science competition.”

Robin Withers, Training and Development Manager, Valero Pembroke Refinery

“Apprenticeships are at the heart of business effectiveness. They increase the skill-set of the nation and they increase the attractiveness of Wales as a place to do business.”

Jeff Cuthbert, Deputy Minister for Skills (2013)

“Working with Pembrokeshire College has really helped us move forward with our targets. The expertise and helpfulness of their staff have made working in partnership a pleasure.”

Reham Mustafa, Sharjah Institute of Technology, UAE

“Training4business are very professional, they work to the timelines that you give them, and they always endeavour to find a solution to your training needs. We were particularly impressed with their communications and the suitability of their training provision. If we require any bespoke courses in the future, we would look to Business, Services & Training at Pembrokeshire College.”

Alex Britton, Mooring Analyst, Svitzer Marine

“I have worked with Pembrokeshire College for a number of years and have been supported by an assessor to undertake my Level 4 in Health and Social Care. The assessor has also supported the staff to achieve their Level 2 and 3, she has been reliable, professional and has encouraged and supported the candidates according to their needs.

“The assessor has met the candidates in all the community homes, depending on where they work, and has catered for the unsocial hours in their assessments. We are looking to enrol more candidates in the future and will be doing this with Business Central at Pembrokeshire College because we are confident they will provide a quality service. Previously Perthyn had sought support from other providers and candidates had not completed their qualifications within the time frame but Business Central’s training have supported us with this.”

Wayne Goss, Perthyn Residential Home

“The training given has provided our employees with a lifelong qualification that makes them extremely employable. It has been a benefit to the company as the training received is regarded highly within the water / Petro-chemical industries in which we work and having all of our team leaders qualified puts us ahead of the competition.”

Clare Gottwaltz, HR Manager, Celvac Environmental Solutions

“The Energy Project has provided training that has given our employees increased knowledge and experience as well as developing their confidence levels.”

Richard Cook, HR Business Partner, Valero Energy

“The Energy Project has been greatly beneficial to Hertel at Pembroke, with its wide variety of courses and excellent costs we were able to train our workers to a higher standard across a more diverse sector enabling us to remain highly competitive within our business area. Individuals have personally benefited by learning new skills and developing career progression. With the excellent communication between the Energy Project and ourselves, coupled with the high standard and quality of training and services provided I hope this relationship will continue long into the future.”

Toby Brace Hertel, HSEQ Advisor, Hertel UK Ltd

“Pembrokeshire College and staff have been very helpful in the processing and setting up of our Company policies ranging from Environmental to Equal Opportunities. Their service has been invaluable to us as a company, particularly during these difficult times.”

Clark James, Kingswood Engineering

“Training was ‘tailor made’to our employees’ requirements. Difficult course to run because of the employees’ different level of IT competency, but tasks set and achieved.”

Alan McCluskey, Training Officer, Hertel UK Ltd

“The Energy Sector Training initiative has been instrumental in the development and implementation of a viable Equal opportunities and Environmental policy for my company in addition to the available training we have been able to avail ourselves of. The experience and skills made available to PSJMC Ltd. from within the Pembrokeshire College team has been an invaluable aid in terms of helping us to recognise the importance of developing such policies in today’s market, facilitating and supporting the creation of such policies, relevant to the work we do. We look forward to continuing to work with the Energy Sector Training team to refine our product and expanding our business by improving our viability for new markets in terms of skills and structure.”
