These courses are intended for qualified Electrical operatives who wish to be able to inspect, test, certify and commission electrical work.

Is this course right for me?
These 12 week programmes consists of two awards that provide an understanding of the theory and practice involved with the: initial verification and commissioning, and periodic inspection, testing and condition reporting, of both single and three phase electrical installations. The awards follow BS 7671 and the Industry recognised Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET) Guidance Note 3 and the Typical Job Best Practice Guides from Electrical Safely First.
This course is suitable for people who are qualified as installation electricians, electrical technicians or engineers.
You will require a copy of the IET BS7671:2018 Guidance Note 3 to be brought with you on the first day.

- You will need to provide proof of the following Level 3 qualifications - Electrical Installation or a Technical Certificate (EAL 1605, 9331 or City and Guilds 2360, 2361, 2365, 2330, 2357) and 18th Edition of the Wiring Regulations
- Each application is considered on individual merit
- Learners must be at least 16 years old
Units to be studied include:
- Principles, practices and legislation for the initial verification of electrical installations
- Principles, practices and legislation for the periodic inspection, testing and condition reporting of electrical installations
Learners are able to complete either the full qualification or certain units or elements through the medium of Welsh/bilingually. Visit our Welsh Language in the College page to find out what else is available to you.

Following successful completion of this course learners could look to progress to a higher level course at the College, seek an appropriate Apprenticeship or go directly into employment.
