Students studying on the thirteen week traineeship in construction at Pembrokeshire College are getting a real feel for the industry with one of their weekly lessons taking place at Stackpole Walled Gardens.
Each week the students are undertaking a range of practical activities, putting into practice the skills they are learning as part of their course. So far the students have been involved in repairing planters and pergolas while working outside in all weather conditions.
College lecturer, Garry Thomas commented: “Taking the students out to Stackpole Gardens each week is allowing them to really get their hands dirty and get a feel for what it is like to work out on a real site in real weather conditions.
“The group have really got stuck into building the pergolas and are hopefully making a visible difference to the gardens for visitors to see and enjoy.”
