On one of the most important days in the College’s academic calendar, over 400 people gathered in the magnificent setting of St David’s Cathedral to witness students receiving their degrees, HNDs, HNCs and postgraduate awards from the University of Wales Trinity Saint David as well as professional qualifications through Central Training.
College Principal, Dr Barry Walters welcomed graduands and their guests to the cathedral and commented: “It is my honour today, on behalf of all here, and in particular the governing body and staff of Pembrokeshire College, to offer you our warmest congratulations.”
Following the ceremony Barry continued: “For us, the ceremony marks the end of the academic year and it is testament to the hard work and commitment of both our staff and students that so many people are able to graduate with a degree that they have studied for in Pembrokeshire. It highlights that studying for a degree locally really can be a viable option for aspiring graduates.”
The ceremony opened with organ music performed by Simon Pearce and was interspersed with musical interludes from the College’s choir and Performing Arts students Jude Hughes and Elizabeth Stewart-Walvin. Guest speaker for the event was Dr Sarah Beynon who also presented the ‘Student of the Year’ awards.
The College would like to wish all those who graduated every success in their future careers.
