Sing for charity
- Posted by: pembscollegesuperadmin
As their Himalayan trek approaches, College colleagues Debby Kimsey and Karen Humphreys are taking their fundraising efforts to the next level with the help of one of the UKs best known choir leaders.
Taking on the challenge of a lifetime to raise funds for the Paul Sartori Foundation, Debby and Karen have enlisted the help of accomplished choir master Grenville Jones to lead a “Choir in a Day” workshop.
Currently leading a number of community choirs as well as the famous Bath Male Choir, who hit the headlines through their performances on the BBC Last Choir Standing, Grenville appeared on the BBCs Children in Need programme with Gareth Malone and past concert performances have seen him work with Katherine Jenkins and Aled Jones.
With no auditions or singing experience required this is a real opportunity to learn from the professionals. Taking place at St Martins Church Hall, Haverfordwest on Saturday 5 April at 1:30pm, the singing workshop will be followed by an evening concert where participants will get to perform alongside the Bath Welcome Choir in the Merlin Theatre at Pembrokeshire College.
If you’re unsure whether this is for you, Grenville commented: “The workshops I lead are for everyone. If you love to sing in the shower or the car and wonder what it is like to sing in a choir, this is the day for you. Bring a friend or the whole family. The accent will be on the fun that singing in a group can bring. We will work together in the afternoon on a variety of songs – from popular through to folk and perhaps some gospel.”

Tickets for the workshop are £15 and include a meal and the evening performance. Evening audience tickets are £7 and £5 (under 16’s) and are available from Victoria Bookshop, Haverfordwest.
