Is this course right for me?

Whether interested in DIY projects, home improvements, or exploring careers in construction, this course is a great place to start. Learn basic Bricklaying skills and put them to practice in a workshop setting completing several practical brickwork activities and gain an understanding of the skills needed for further training.

Participants should be comfortable carrying out light practical work, including laying bricks at ground level.

  • No formal entry requirements
  • You should be physically capable of completing the practical elements of this course
  • Learners must be at least 16 years old

During the course learners will:

  • Learn the basic tools and materials used in brickwork
  • Mix mortar and prepare a work area
  • Build simple brick structures with different bonds
  • Practise setting out and laying bricks and paving
  • Develop basic bricklaying and paving techniques

Learners may have the option to complete course assessment/assignments or elements of the course through the medium of Welsh or bilingually. Visit our Welsh Language in the College page to find out what else is available to you.
