Is this course right for me?

With support from Department of Work & Pensions (DWP) and local employers, this seven week course (six weeks full-time in College and one week work experience with a local employer) is aimed at helping those that want to improve or refresh their IT and Microsoft Office (365) skills in order to work in IT or office administration roles.

Applicants who are shortlisted will be interviewed by a panel made up of College staff and a representative from the DWP.  Successful applicants will be notified after the interview process has taken place.

This course will start in February 2025.

 

  • Minimum requirement of Mathematics at Entry 3 and English at Level 1
  • Learners must be at least 16 years old
If you have gained your qualifications outside of the UK we will use ECCTIS to check their equivalence to UK qualifications. Please upload proof of your qualifications as part of the application process.

Suitable for those who do not have many IT skills, or those with skills that may need refreshing; the aim is to improve skills as well as build confidence for work in an office/administrative environment.

The course aims to cover the following:

  • Digital Responsibility
  • Word Processing Techniques
  • Information Gathering and Organisation
  • Spreadsheet Techniques
  • Interview Skills
  • Creating Digital Presentations

Learners that successfully complete the six week College component will then need to complete one week of work experience with an approved local employer to gain the Level 2 qualification. The College will support and source employers.

  • the course you are taking at College
  • what grades you gained in your GCSE Maths and/or English Language
