City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations (7682-20)
This apprenticeship is for learners who have some knowledge and basic skills in production or maintenance engineering to enable them to progress safely into the workplace/employment or who want increase their skills and progress onto more advanced qualifications in the engineering sector.

The apprenticeship covers a wide range of engineering disciplines related to the Manufacturing and Engineering sector. It enables you to demonstrate your occupational competence through the development of hand-skills and gaining of knowledge.

- You will be expected to be in relevant job role
- Each application is considered on individual merit
- Entry is subject to attending a course information session or informal interview
- Learners must be at least 16 years old
You will have the option to tailor your apprenticeship according to your job role, common units across the apprenticeship include;
- Working safely in an engineering environment
- Carrying out engineering activities efficiently and effectively
- Using and communicating technical information
Engineering Practices
Learners must then select a minimum of three optional units covering a wide range of engineering disciplines which include the following:
- Producing Components using Hand Fitting Techniques
- Producing Aircraft Detail Assemblies
- Preparing and Using Milling Machines
- Preparing and Using Manual Metal Arc Welding Equipment
- Maintaining Mechanical Devices and Equipment
Technical Support
Learners you must select a minimum of five optional units covering a range of engineering disciplines which include the following:
- Producing CAD Models (Drawings) using a CAD System
- Conducting Business Improvement Activities
- General Maintenance Engineering Applications
Technical Certificate
In addition to this, you will also complete a Technical Certificate qualification whilst in College for 1 day per week. You will develop your understanding of specific engineering technologies.
- Practical assessment during the course
- Workplace evidence
- If taken as an apprenticeship then reviews with your assessor and employer will take place every 1-2 months and you will be expected to have developed your skills and knowledge between each review
This qualification could lead successful learners into roles such as: Machinist, Manual metal arc welder, Draughtsperson, Aircraft systems fitter, Maintenance Engineer, Electronics Operator, Sheet metalworker.
