We are thrilled to announce that Marcus Smith, Hairdressing Tutor at Pembrokeshire College has been selected to represent Team GB at the prestigious OMC Hairworld Championships in Paris this September.
Marcus will be competing in the Creative Colour and Style category, showcasing his exceptional talent on an international stage.
The OMC Hairworld – World Championship, organised by the Organisation Mondiale Coiffure (OMC), is the leading global competition in the hair, beauty, and nail industry. With over 50 countries participating, the event celebrates innovation, skill, and artistry across multiple categories. Marcus was personally approached to try out for the competition and has now earned his place among the UK’s top hairdressing talent.
The Creative Colour and Style category challenges participants to bring their artistic vision to life on a mannequin head, with just 35 minutes on the day to complete the styling. In preparation, Marcus will head to the Goldwell Academy in London this August, where he will colour his mannequin head in advance—one of the many strategic steps in this time-sensitive competition.

In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Marcus travels across the country once a month to train and perfect his competition technique. His commitment to excellence not only sets a strong example for students but also elevates the college’s reputation for delivering industry-leading education.
