What You’ll Learn in the Emergency First Aid at Work Course
This one-day emergency first aid course provides learners with the essential knowledge and hands-on skills needed to respond confidently in a workplace emergency. It’s ideal for anyone responsible for first aid in low-risk environments or as part of a wider first aid team.
Key topics covered include:
- The roles and responsibilities of a workplace first aider

- Providing first aid for choking, external bleeding, and shock
- How to treat minor injuries effectively
Fully aligned with Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidelines, this course is suitable for businesses needing to meet legal first aid requirements. Certification is valid for three years, after which a refresher or renewal is required. An annual refresher is also recommended to maintain confidence and up-to-date skills.
This is a full-day course, running from 9:30am to 5:30pm. We kindly ask all participants to arrive by 9:15am so we can start promptly.
As the course is packed with essential content and practical learning, we often run through the full allotted time. Please ensure you’re able to attend the entire session when making your booking.
We recommend that learners are at least 14 years old to take part in this course. However, employers or training providers should carry out an initial assessment to ensure that all participants—regardless of age—are physically able to complete the practical elements of the training.
Learners should also have a basic understanding of English, ideally at Level 1 or above, to confidently complete the written and verbal parts of the assessment.
If any learner may require additional support, please let the Community Coordinator know prior to attending to session.
