This Higher National Certificate (HNC) programme contains engineering units and offers a strong, sector-related emphasis on practical skills development alongside the development of requisite knowledge and understanding.

This course normally runs one day per week, over 2 years, starting in September.

  • 48 UCAS Tariff points from A-level or vocational qualification
  • Direct admission for applicants who have been out of full-time education for more than two years will be considered based on previous learning or experience
  • Each application is considered on individual merit
  • Entry may be subject to interview

The HNC Instrumentation Engineering course typically consists of the following modules:

  • Engineering Mathematics
  • Electrical Principles
  • Research Study and Presentation Skills
  • Industrial Measurement Systems
  • Embedded Systems
  • Programmable Logic Controllers
  • Instrumentation, Automation and Control
  • Pneumatics and Hydraulics

Successful completion of the HNC will qualify students for entry to Higher National Degree (HND)/degree courses in related subjects.
