Two talented student filmmakers from Pembrokeshire College are set to see their work on the big screen after being selected for a prestigious showcase at Theatr Gwaun’s Welsh Film Festival in Fishguard.

The three-day festival, which takes place from 23 to 25 October, celebrates Welsh cinema by bringing together emerging creative talent, archive footage and acclaimed Welsh films. The event will also feature a special appearance from director Kevin Allen as part of a screening and discussion around the iconic Welsh film Twin Town.

The Pembrokeshire College learners have been selected to feature in Your Films, Our Screen, a free gala screening taking place at 2pm on Saturday 24 October. The showcase was curated from an open call to filmmakers across Wales and highlights a diverse range of work from both new and established creatives, including drama, documentary, personal storytelling and experimental film.

Having their work selected for the festival is a significant achievement for the learners and reflects the creativity, technical skills and dedication they have developed through their studies. The screening will provide them with the invaluable opportunity to share their films with a public audience and see their work presented alongside a range of exciting productions from across Wales.

A spokesperson for Pembrokeshire College said:

“We are incredibly proud of our learners for having their films selected for this exciting festival showcase. Opportunities like this provide invaluable real-world experience and allow our students to share their creativity with wider audiences. Having their work screened at an established festival is a fantastic achievement and highlights the talent, passion and professionalism of our aspiring filmmakers.”

Pembrokeshire College is committed to providing learners with opportunities to develop industry-relevant skills and showcase their work beyond the classroom. Successes such as this demonstrate the high standard of creative talent being nurtured within the College’s arts and media programmes.

The College would like to congratulate the learners on their selection and wish them every success as they continue to pursue careers within the creative industries.
