Learners from a range of creative courses recently gained a valuable insight into the world of professional tattooing during a guest speaker session with local tattoo artist Phil from Molly Green’s Tattoo Studio.
The session brought together learners from Level 2 Art and Design, Level 1 Art, Design and Media and Level 3 Creative Media Production, giving them the opportunity to learn firsthand about the skills, dedication and creativity required to build a successful career in the tattoo industry.
Drawing on his own professional journey, Phil shared how he developed his artistic skills, entered the industry and established himself as a tattoo artist. He also discussed the realities of working within the profession, the importance of continuous development and the different pathways available to aspiring creatives looking to turn their passion into a career.
Learners were highly engaged throughout the session, asking thoughtful questions about the industry, career progression and the skills needed to succeed. The visit provided an excellent opportunity for learners to explore how the artistic and creative techniques they are developing at college can be applied in a real-world setting.
The College is committed to providing learners with opportunities to engage directly with industry professionals, helping them gain a deeper understanding of potential career paths and the skills employers value. The College’s Employment Bureau, who organised the visit, said:
“Visits like this are invaluable in helping our learners explore the breadth of opportunities available within the creative industries. Hearing directly from professionals such as Phil gives students a real insight into different career pathways, while helping them understand the commitment, creativity and resilience needed to succeed. We are extremely grateful to Phil for taking the time to share his experiences and inspire our learners.”
Pembrokeshire College would like to thank Phil for his time, enthusiasm and willingness to share his knowledge with learners, helping to inspire the next generation of creative professionals.
