The IEMA Foundation Certificate is for anyone looking to make an impact in an environment or sustainability role. It focuses on environmental management so it’s perfect if you’re starting out, responsible for collecting and collating environmental or sustainability data through to providing routine checks on legislative or pollution prevention measures.

It will develop the essential management skills to help your business and community become more sustainable over 40 hours. Gain your Associate (AIEMA) membership with IEMA.

This is a 15 day course taught in a virtual classroom.

Element 3: Policy and legislation

  • The key principles of environmental policy
  • Key environmental policy instruments
  • Background to environmental legislation
  • Examples of criminal law
  • Stakeholders and the role of regulators

Element 4: Environmental Management Systems

  • Introduction to environmental management systems
  • Key elements of ISO 14001

Element 5: Performance evaluation

  • Data management
  • Monitoring performance
  • Environmental inspections and audits

Element 6: Additional management and assessment tools

  • Additional Management and Assessment Tools

Element 7: Communication and the management of change

  • Communication
  • Corporate reporting
  • Green claims
  • Management of change
