The safer handling course aims and objectives ensure that the Moving and Positioning training has been met to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injuries caused by poor manual handling in the workplace.

Is this course right for me?
This 2 day course is for anyone working in the Health and Social Care industry. Understanding Moving and Positioning Training can greatly reduce the risk of injury to the employee and the cost of absences for the employer.
Once the training has been completed successfully, the candidate will receive their Moving and Positioning certificate and training record as proof that training has been undertaken.
There is also a 1 day refresher course available.

The course consists of six modules which ensures compliance with the law, reduces the risk from bad practice for clients and carers, and to meet requirements of best practice.
Units to be studied include:
- Avoiding musculoskeletal injuries
- Legislation
- Safer handling policies and procedures within the organisation
- Ergonomics and risk assessment
- Principles of safer handling
- Team handling
- Communication
- Inanimate load handling
- Practical application of ergonomics
- Sitting
- Standing
- Walking transfers
- Bed mobility
- Lateral transfers
- Hoisting
