Enrolment FAQ’s

Here are answers to some commonly asked questions. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please email: admissions@pembrokeshire.ac.uk or use the contact form below.

Before Starting College

College is different to school in that there is no school bell, you call your teachers by their first name and you are given more responsibility for your own learning. College is a more grown-up environment and is a stepping stone to employment, an apprenticeship or further study at university.

We know that one of the biggest worries about coming to College is that you won’t know anyone. Don’t worry, everyone is in the same boat which means making friends is much easier than you might think. Your tutors will also help by ensuring that everyone on the same course gets to know each other during the first few days.

Enrolment and Starting College

Enrolment will take place online via the OnTrack Application Portal once you have uploaded a photo of your GCSE results slip. You will find out everything you need to know about enrolling by clicking through the links within this Enrolment Hub.

  • Take a photo of your results (make sure you include the name section)
  • Login to OnTrack Application Portal
  • From the menu (top left) select Evidence
  • Select Results for Evidence Type
  • Select your photo and click UPLOAD

If you can’t upload your results via the OnTrack Application Portal you can email a photo of your GCSE results slip to our admissions team.

First, don’t worry, we will try our best to help you find the right course for you. Please still upload your grades via the OnTrack Application Portal.

If you did not quite achieve the grades you required, you may be offered a place on a lower level course (if available). We will be in touch to let you know what is happening.

If your grades are a long way off what you needed, don’t panic. Still upload your results via OnTrack Application Portal or email them to admissions@pembrokeshire.ac.uk and our Admissions team will contact you.

If you’re not sure that you’ve picked the right course, please get in touch with our friendly Admissions team as soon as possible. They will be able to provide you with some impartial advice and guidance and talk to you about your options and other courses that may be available. The sooner you make contact, the more likely we are to be able to find you a suitable alternative.

Email: admissions@pembrokeshire.ac.uk or call: 0800 9 776 788

Once you have uploaded your results (or emailed them to us) your results are manually checked.

As we will have lots of results to check, please allow at least two full working days before contacting the College to check on the progress of your enrolment.

Once checked:

  1. If you have met the conditions of your offer, you will receive an email letting you know about your first day in College.
  2. If you have not quite achieved the results you required, we will contact you to talk about your options.
  3. If your grades are a long way off what you needed, don’t panic, please upload your results and one of our Admissions Team will contact you to talk about alternative courses.

You will be issued with your bus pass during the first couple of weeks of term. The bus drivers are aware of this and will let you on the bus without one.

This is the provisional Bus Timetable – this may change for September, so check back here for an updated version.

Applying for Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA) is easy, you can:

To get used to College, and start to find your way around, your first day in College will be Monday 2 September or Tuesday 3 September depending on your course.

You will be sent an email with the date you need to attend, it is important that you attend to find out everything you need to know ready to start your course. You will also get your timetable to know which days you need to be in College.

Second year students start back from Wednesday 4 September, you will receive an email from your course area with the exact date.

On your first day in College we advise that you bring basic stationery plus anything that you have been asked to buy for your course or anything you were advised to bring with you on Transition Day.

Whilst there is no College uniform, some courses such as engineering, hair and beauty, sport and hospitality will require you to purchase a uniform or overalls prior to starting your course.

Click on the relevant link to your course from the Enrolment Home Page to find out whether a uniform is required for your course.

Some courses do have fees to be paid, these could be workshop fees, equipment or DBS checks.

Click on the relevant link to your course from the Enrolment Home Page to find out whether anything is needed for your course.

Once in College

If you don’t achieve a grade C in Maths/Numeracy and/or English, you will need to either resit or upskill to achieve a higher grade. We will make sure that you are enrolled onto the relevant programme once you have started your main course at College.

It is advisable to have a laptop to allow you to study at home (specialist resources such as Macs and software such as CAD and computer programming will be accessed when you are in College). You can read the Bring your Own Device page to find out what we recommend. Whilst in College you can borrow a laptop from one of the laptop lockers located in the upper atrium by the IT Helpdesk.

Once you are enrolled and have an active IT account you will be able to install the Microsoft Office suite for free, on suitable devices.

You will receive your timetable once you start College in September.

One of the easiest ways to access this is via the Microsoft Sharepoint App, once you have your Student ID you will be able to login and access a wealth of information and link to your timetable.

During the first few weeks of term, timetables can change so it’s important that you regularly check your timetable to make sure you are going to the right room.

You may find that some days you have lots of lessons and other days you have more free periods. Registers are taken at the start of every session but if you have a free period you do not need to remain on site although we advise students to use their free periods to catch-up on study and assignments.

There are lots of areas around the College where you can study including the library and the upper atrium. There are also spaces in the Construction Centre and the Technology Innovation Centre (TIC).

We have a wide variety of support and safeguarding services that are available for all our students, whether you are here full-time, one day a week or even just for a few hours each week, you’ll have access to all our support and safeguarding services.

You can find out about some of our support on our Student Support webpage or Workbased Student Support page.

When in College you can visit The Hwb where staff will be able to help you.
