Pembrokeshire College and Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club, have taken the first steps to work together in partnership, to develop and promote car maintenance courses, aimed at developing confidence and practical skills for beginners and car enthusiasts alike.
Classic cars were on show at the College’s recent Engineering & Computing Expo, where they generated a great deal of interest with visitors of all ages.
Nigel Richards from the automotive department at the College commented,
“Collaborating with the Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club, presents a fantastic opportunity to make our College’s automotive expertise and facilities accessible to all car enthusiasts. We committed to strengthening our ties with Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club”.
Currently Pembrokeshire College offers a Basic Car Maintenance evening class, which provides participants the flexibility to work on their own cars—whether classic or modern—while learning valuable skills. The College is also eager to offer a dedicated Classic Car Maintenance evening course if there is sufficient demand. Engaging both young and old learners in the joys of working on cars, both classic and contemporary, which can foster a rewarding hobby and a very fulfilling career.
Mike Chilton, Chairman of the Pembrokeshire Classic Car Club commented,
“by working in partnership with the College, and their extensive facilities, we will be able to encourage and support the next generation of car enthusiasts.”
Formed in 1983 the club’s members hold a wealth of experience, including auto specialists, garage owners, mechanics and enthusiasts, who are all willing to help newcomers, and pass their knowledge on.
The College plans to offer day courses and experiences for the club and the local community, focusing on topics such as Hybrid and Electric Vehicles, and specialist areas such as tuning and brake maintenance.
