Marine Engineering

Marine Engineering
City & Guilds Level 2 Diploma in Marine Engineering (2472-12)
Learners who study on the marine engineering course feel a sense of fulfilment when they turn the ignition of an inboard engine or pull the pull the cord on an outboard engine to hear it come to life!
Is this course right for me?
Learners dismantle and rebuild the engines in our industry standard workshop. When it does not go to plan, and the engines do not start, learners are encouraged to problem solve to find the root cause of non-ignition under the supervision of our experienced tutors. Maintenance will then be taught to learners who will use technical manuals, take measurements, fit and replace lifed items and diagnose problems to make sure it is running to its optimum capacity
Learners on the course will enjoy industrial visits to gain knowledge on up to date practices as well as visits from the Royal Navy, Royal Air Force and Green technology companies to explore careers related to marine engineering.
Through a series of practical tasks and lectures, this course provides learners with a sound understanding of marine engineering craft processes, an appreciation of related science and technology and an introduction to the marine craft industry.
