Key facts:
Area:
Overview:

It may be possible to study this subject on a part-time basis.

The course is intended for those who wish to explore FINE ART PHOTOGRAPHY. You will study and analyse the work of other fine art photographers and artists and use this to inspire and influence your own work. You will also learn about the theory of photography and will have many opportunities to put it all into practice on location, in the studio, darkroom and digital darkroom. Students will develop their imaginative and creative powers, analytical, documenting, research and writing skills.

Photography A Level is NOT an easy option and demands a high level of commitment - you will need to be self-motivated as many assignments are worked on outside of lecture time, including research and written assignments, with 3/4 of the course content assessed by written work.

If you want to discover the thrill of expressing yourself through still images then this is the course for you.

Next steps:

A Level study is primarily intended to provide entry to Higher Education. Subject choices are vital for many degree subjects so students should research university entry requirements if they have specific degree subjects in mind.

Entry requirements:
Five GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
-English
-Science
-Maths
Normally Grade B in subject or related subject
Mature applicants - Each application considered on individual merit
Entry is normally subject to interview
Federation learners will be admitted as normal after satisfying the entry requirements of their own school

A CD of JPEG images that would be of a standard to pass GCSE at grade B (CD will not be returned)

What you will learn:

An A Level photography student.....
