If you live or work in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot or Swansea, you could be entitled to receive funding towards the cost of your course.
Skills for the Workplace is a project that offers funded training to help people across south west Wales gain valuable, work-ready skills.
The training is focused around key sectors and is designed for anyone looking to upskill whether you are new to the job market or already in work.
It is a joint initiative between several colleges in the region, including Pembrokeshire College, and is part-funded through the Skills and Talent fund, supported by the Swansea Bay City Deal and the Regional Learning and Skills Partnership.
It offers subsidised training on course’s which fall within these priority sectors:
- Building and construction
- Business management
- Direct learning support
- Energy
- Engineering
- Environmental conservation
- Health and social care
- ICT practitioners
- Transport operations and maintenance

About
Who is eligible?
Current eligibility includes:
- Age: 16 or over
- Location: Live or work in Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot or Swansea
- Residency: UK national or have valid documentation confirming leave to remain in the UK
- Status: Unemployed or employed (part-time students only are eligible if currently in education)
How can the programme be accessed?
Do I need any specific skills or qualifications?
Can I access more than one course?
Are you able to do these if you already have a degree?

About the Costs
How much will it cost me?
A contribution will be required for:
- Employed participants or
- Employers applying on behalf of employees
Will I have to refund the course fees if I am unable to complete the course?
What happens if I drop out of the course, would I be able to apply again?
We understand personal circumstances change. You could apply to undertake a new course, if you still meet the eligibility criteria for the programme. However, we would expect you to commit to the course and if you dropped out for a second time, you would not be entitled to future funding through the Skills for the Workplace.
